It is with great sadness that the family of the late Melvin Rice announce his passing on Sunday, March 24th 2013 at the Palliative Care Unit at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 71 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 52 years Eileen; children: Freeman (Wanda) of Brampton ON, Justine (Emmanuel) of Hampden, Carlene (John) of Fort McMurray, Kerry (Nikki) of Fort McMurray, Lisa (Todd) of Hampden; eight grandchildren: Deanna (Sherman), Tyson, Jonathon (Melissa), Joey, Nathalia, Brea, Taylor, Shalee; four great grandchildren: Summerlee, Austin, Brooklyn, Kaia and great grandson (Braydon) on the way, and two brothers Garland (Jessie) of Purbecks Cove and Thomas (Myrtle) of Purbecks Cove and half brother Clement of Westport and sisters-in-law Margaret and Effie, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Theodore and Margaret Rice, brothers, Clarence, Arthur and Charlie and sisters, Lydia, Flossie, Mary and Rhoda. Friends may visit the Anglican Church of the Epiphany in Hampden on Tuesday and Wednesday from the hours of 2-4 and 7-9PM, from where the funeral will be held on Thursday, March 28th at 2 PM with Rev. Marlaine Leggo officiating, interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Rice family.
