WALLACE: Phyllis was born in Galahad, Alberta on September 29, 1930, the only daughter of William and Vera Brown, and went to be with her Savior on January 23, 2013 at the age of 82. After completing high school, Phyllis attended business school in Calgary and worked as a secretary at Premier Laundry. She married her high school sweet heart, Jack Wallace, in August 1950. Over the years, Jack and Phyllis lived in a number of places in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Phyllis received Christ as her Friend and Savior at age 29 at the time of her father William’s passing. From that day on Christ and his love became the greatest joy of Phyllis’ life. During the years that Jack travelled as a salesman and later when he owned the Link Hardware and Home Hardware Stores in Swift Current, Phyllis kept the home fires burning. Phyllis was a loving wife to Jack. She was also a great Mom and Grandmother for her children and their children. Her family savored many delicious meals around her table, and always enjoyed coming home to visit with Mom and Dad. Over the years Jack and Phyllis enjoyed many trips to different parts of the world, and after Jack retired they loved going south to Arizona in the winter. What those who knew Phyllis remember most about her was her love for people. It didn’t matter who you were, or what your station in life, you would always feel her warmth and love. She had a compassionate heart and encouraged many women over the years by offering a listening ear, wise counsel, and prayer, often over the telephone. Phyllis had a strong faith and she was the first to say that God’s love for her in Christ made her the person she was. The Bible was her most cherished book. She loved to pray and was part of women’s prayer groups almost continuously through the years. Phyllis enjoyed attending Swift Current Full Gospel Church and Swift Current Women’s Aglow, which she served as president for two terms. Phyllis leaves to mourn her loving husband Jack, sons Glen (Elaine) Wallace, Cameron (Barb) Wallace, daughters Jody (Hugh) Hedlin, and Janice (Curtis) Hildebrand. Nana to eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild, brothers Albert (Kay), Tom (Doreen) and Richard. She was predeceased by her father William J. Brown, her mother Vera M. Holben, her stepfather George Holben and her sister in law Peggy Brown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideons International. A memorial service will be held at the Swift Current Full Gospel Church on Saturday April 13 at 2:00 pm.
