It is with sadness that, we the family, of Audrey M. MacAulay announce her passing Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, after a short illness.
Born in 1928, in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Angus and Catherine (MacRitchie) MacAulay.
Graduating from high school, she worked with Dominion Shipping and Devco until her retirement. In early years she enjoyed golfing and curling. Later, she found her enjoyment playing bridge, tarabish, and having lunch with her friends who will surely miss her.
Audrey is survived by her only brother, Norman (Helen) MacAulay, Sydney; nephew, Kenny (Darlene) MacAulay, and their sons, Chad, Connor and Spencer, Alberta; nieces, Thelma and her daughter, Jessie, Newfoundland, and Audrey (Jim Barnes) and son, James Michael, Georges River.
The family would like to thank Drs. Myatt and A.F. D’Intino, the staff of Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their kind and gentle care of Audrey. Special thanks to her dear friends, too many to mention for their support.
Honouring Audrey’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A gathering of Audrey’s family and dear friends to celebrate her life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14 at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Sheldon Chant officiating. Reception to follow. Burial will take place in Little Narrows Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in her memory may be made to Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association.
