June 27, 1928 - February 7, 2010. Passed peacefully away on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at St. Clare’s Hospital, age 81 years. Predeceased by son Barry; his parents: Augustus and Catherine; brothers: Bert, Leo, Tine, Johnny and Billy; sisters: Veronica Meade and Terese Barnable. Leaving to mourn with fond and treasured memories, his loving wife of 51 years Dolly (Kavanagh); his children: special daughter Wally Ann, Jocelyn O’Brien (Richie), Linda Oates (June), Marilyn Oates (Barry), Kerry O’Keefe (Ann Marie), Shirley Maher (Sean), Rhonda Arsenault (Joe); special sister-in-law, Sadie Kenny (Ron); brother, Harold (Judy); in-laws: Bernard Kavanagh, Bill Kavanagh (Doris), Junior Kavanagh (Shirley), Susie Kavanagh and Harold Power; eighteen grandchildren: Tracy, Devin, Victoria, Mark, Keith, Susan, Lorna, Stephen, Melanie, Melissa, Brandi, Barry, Julie, Tiffany, Travis, Andrew, Nicholas and Kelsey; three great-grandchildren: Zachary, Kylee and Kate; extended family: Tina O’Brien (Darrin) - Sarah and Kenny, Lisa Kenny (Paul) - Veronica, Barry Kenny and Julie Kenny (Glen); family friends: Jana Steen and Kristine Ryan; also a large circle of nieces and nephews, cousins, good neighbours and friends. Special thanks to the staff of 4 West, St. Clare’s and the staff of Shamrock Medical Clinic in Ferryland. Resting at Fahey’s Funeral Home, Fermeuse, with visitation on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will take place at the Holy Trinity Church, Ferryland, at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010.
