Emma Mary Klein (nee Taylor)
January 21, 1913 – February 6, 2010
With loving memories, the family of Emma Mary Klein (nee Taylor) announces her passing on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the age of 97 years. Emma was a much loved Mother, Nanny and Great-Nanny who has now taken her place in heaven. Left behind to cherish her life are her loving children: Patricia (Fred), Roberta, Albert (Darlene) and Debbie (Floyd); cherished grandchildren: Duane, Dean (Lee Anne), Rod, Charlie, Janice (Ron), Colleen (Mike), Jeff (Linnea), Dawn (Mike), Fred (Annette), Daisy, Raelynn (Brad), and Ryan (Jessica) and a granddaughter in-law Vicky. She is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren and many extended family. Emma was predeceased by her husband Fredrick “Bertâ€; son William; grandsons Kenneth and Robert; great grandson Christopher; parents Edgar and Ellen “Nellie†Taylor; sisters Elizabeth and Alice; one brother David and granddaughter in-law Gloria. Emma was born and raised in Prince Albert. Emma married Bert Klein in 1930 and went on to have five children. Their summers were often spent at Waskesiu where they had a cottage and spent much time at the beach and fishing. Emma operated a store on River Street for several years. After the passing of her husband Bert, Emma worked as a house mother at the nurses’ residence, Holy Family Hospital and then as a receptionist for the Salvation Army. After raising her children Emma became an avid traveler, travelling all over the world. Emma loved her children, and as “head of the family†was diligent in keeping everyone connected. Her home was always open to her family whether it was for a spirited game of Kaiser, a visit over cookies and tea, or a compassionate listening ear. She was a confident, wise woman with great wit. Emma was lovingly called Nanny by all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a “one in a million†grandmother who until her last days on earth developed and nurtured that special bond she had with her grandchildren. She will always hold a special place in our hearts and minds. We were blessed to have had her in our lives for so long and we will miss her dearly. A Celebration of Emma's life will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West in Prince Albert, SK. She will be laid to rest at South Hill Cemetery next to her beloved husband Bert and son William. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gray's Funeral Chapel, Drew Gray, Funeral Director.
