Passed peacefully away while vacationing in Florida on Monday, April 1, Mabel Smith, aged 71 years. Predeceased by her parents Violet and Edgar Best, sister Ada Littlejohn, brothers Charles and Raymond Best, and daughter-in-law Annette. Leaving to mourn with fond and cherished memories her devoted husband William; loving children: Neil (Magdi), Wade (Trudy), and JoAnne Baird (Ian), and nine loved and adored grandchildren: Abigail, Rachel, David, Andrew, Katherine, William, Emily, Natalie and Eric. Mabel is survived by sisters: Anita Vokey, Hannah Neil (Wally), Emily Haynes (Mac); brothers: Reginald (Donna), Heber (Patricia), and Carl (Edyepat) and a large group of nieces and nephews. Mabel was surrounded by a large circle of friends including her nursing companions and those she met as a result of their involvement in the Shriners’ organization. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Friday, April 5, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 10 a.m.-12 noon. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013 from St. Augustine’s Anglican Church at 2:00 p.m. with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Rd.
