Passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at the age of 65, after a short illness with cancer at Etobicoke General Hospital, Toronto, Ont. on February 3, 2010. John is predeceased by his mother Mary, his father John and his sister Betty. Leaving to mourn his much loved children Barry (Christine), Jackie (Rex), Jay (Norma-Jean) and Ambur. “Poppy John” will also be sadly missed by his grandchildren: Alicia, Samantha, Justin, Cody, Matthew, Jordan and Justice and great-grandson Braydan. Also his sisters: Shirley McGrath, Peggy Butters (John) and his brother Eddie, as well as a number of nieces and nephews who all loved him. John is also fondly remembered by his ex-wife of 16 years Marjorie (Rollings). John also leaves to mourn a very large circle of friends and a very important family in his life, the Gardner Family, whom John had a very special bond with, and loved dearly. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road on Saturday, February 13, 2010 from 12-2 p.m., followed by a funeral service in Caul’s Chapel. Inurnment to follow at Holy Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or a donation of one’s choice in John’s memory is appreciated.
