It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Blaise Gregory Bigley, Lynch Dr on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family. Blaise died as he lived, quiet and with great dignity.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late John ‘Jack’ and Frances (MacDonald) Bigley.
He was a loving family man who adored his wife, sons and grandchildren. He worked for 35 years with Devco, retiring as a supervisor. Blaise was a longtime member of the Glace Bay Kinsmen, Knights of Columbus and a charter member of Glace Bay’s first Lion’s Club. He also volunteered as an usher at the Savoy Theatre.
Blaise is survived by his loving wife and caregiver, Eileen (Billard); two sons, Geoffrey and Gregory; six grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Austin, Cameron, Nicholas and Maddison; daughter-in-law, Darlene, our rock during this ordeal; brother, John ‘Jay’ (Marie) Bigley; sisters, Geraldine (Alfie) Hardy and Audrey Cooke; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Tom and Michael (Mickey) and sister, Josephine Conron.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A memorial mass will take place Tuesday, April 9 at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church. The Rev Leo Boone will be officiating.
