James Keating

KEATING, JAMES JOSEPH - July 31, 1946 - April 8, 2013 - James Joseph Keating, of Halifax, passed away quietly with his family by his side at the Victoria General on April 8, 2013, at the age of 66. Jim, the son of John (Jackie) and Mildred (Boudreau),was originally from Saint John, NB. He graduated from St. Malachy’s Memorial High School, and later attended Saint Mary’s University. Following school, Jim began work in the finance industry and concluded a fulfilling career working with Scotia Bank. Jim is survived by his son Michael, his daughter Erin, brothers Jack and Dick, and sisters Ann Cotone and Patricia Palmer. Jim was predeceased by his parents and his loving wife, Elizabeth (Liz). Jim was known for his sharp wit, his dry sense of humour, and his kind heart. His curious nature and genuine interest in people engaged you immediately, and made you feel as if you had known him forever. Jim lived with a twinkle in his eye, and a visit with him never failed to entertain. Jim had a passion for sport, and a particular love of baseball. A favorite pastime was hanging out with “the boys” watching games and talking sports. Jim was also an avid wine maker and worked hard to perfect the vintages of Wembley Wines. Family and friends were always delighted to consume the fruits of his labour. More than anything else, Jim was a devoted husband and a proud and loving father. He was a constant source of strength and support for his children, particularly in the last year in dealing with the loss of their mother. He will be remembered with great love and fondness by his family and friends.
