DOUCETTE, Helen Rose – Plymouth, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on her 72nd birthday, in Yarmouth Regional Hospital, with her loving family at her side following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born April 6, 1941 in Hubbard’s Point, she was a daughter of Régina (Melanson) Doucette and the late Alexandre “Potash” Doucette. Helen last worked as a night supervisor at Schooner Seafoods in Wedgeport. Although she enjoyed bingo, her true passion was her family, especially her grandchildren – she was a loving and devoted grand-mère. She is survived by her loving mother, Régina, Hubbard’s Point, as well as by her companion, Anthony Jacquard. She is also survived by her loving children, Jo-Anne (Harry), Amirault’s Hill; Troy (Tina), Chebogue; Lezin (Nicole), Tusket; step-children, Steven (Nicole), Hebron; Trina, Yarmouth, as well as by her dear grandchildren, Crystal, Jenna, Arielle, Brady, Jordan and Carmen, as well as by two great grandsons, Riley and Jacob; brothers and sisters, Rémi, Yarmouth; Alcide (Patsy) and Benjamin “Blint” (Marie), both of Hubbard’s Point; Bernie Doucette, Tusket; Cora (Joe), Pubnico Head; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Aside from her father, Alexandre “Potash”, she was predeceased by a daughter, Kimberly in infancy, as well as by a sister, Louise, a brother, Leonard and two sisters-in-law, Phyllis and Linda. Visitation took place from 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday at H. M. Huskilson Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 8 at Saint Anne’s Catholic Church, Ste. Anne-du-Ruisseau, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Gilles Boudreau and Friends Cancer Help Fund.
