It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of John J. ‘Jackie’ Holic, on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a brief illness.
Born in Sydney Mines on March 12, 1946, he was the oldest son of Ann (Matheson) and the late John T. Holic.
Jackie leaves behind his mother, Ann Holic; his former wife, Rita (MacLean); his only daughter, Lisa (Sheila), Ontario; two sons, Danny (Laurie), Bras d’Or and Johnny (Tracie), Sydney Mines. Also left to mourn are his grandchildren, Holly, Jordan, Kendra, Lucas and Owen; brothers, Gerard (Susan) and Michael (Donna); sisters, Ann Marie (Mel) Anderson and Mary Cecilia, all of Sydney Mines.
At Jackie’s request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines.
The family would like to thank the staff of the ICU at the Regional Hospital who took such loving care of Jackie while there. Also, thank you to all who called and sent prayers his way, especially those great friends from the Crescent Street Complex.
The family will receive visitors at the J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines on Monday, April 15, 2013 at 10 a.m. A celebration of Jackie’s life will be held at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Greg Murphy officiating.
