It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Frances Theresa Lund on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in East Bay, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Catherine (MacKinnon) MacDonald.
Frances enjoyed sewing, cooking, quilting and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her husband, Gordon; three children, Vivian, Grand Prairie, Alta., Jeanette, Marion Bridge, and Sheila (Chris), Sydney; precious grandchildren, Tyler, Tory and Janelle. She is also survived by her brothers, Michael (Laura) MacDonald, East Bay, Wayne (Nancy) MacDonald, East Bay, and Clifford (Ann Marie) MacKinnon, Sydney; brothers-in-law, Carl Brooks, Ontario, Johnny (Margie) Lund, Sydney, and Eddie (Kay) Lund, Dutch Brook; sisters-in-law, Eileen (Alister) MacDonald, Dutch Brook, Betty (Jimmy) Gillis, Grand Mira, Louise (Wayne) Cann, Marion Bridge, Mora Lund, Skir Dhu, and Christine (John) Thompson, Sydney; many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Frances was predeceased by her brother, Jerome, in infancy, sister, Mary Brooks, father and mother-in-law, Eddie and Tillie Lund, sister-in-law, Evelyn Petrie and brothers-in-law, Elmer Lund and David Lund.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Saturday 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Columba Presbyterian Church, Marion Bridge, Monday 11 a.m., with Pastor Kevin Richardson officiating. Interment in Oakfield Cemetery.
