The death occurred suddenly at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I., on Saturday, July 5, 2008, of Shirley Mary DesRoche (nee Walsh) of Slemon Park, age 66 years. Shirley was born on July 9, 1941, in Summerside, P.E.I., to her father, the late David C. Walsh and her mother, Minnie (nee Arsenault) Walsh-Blacquiere of the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside. Loving mother of Michael (Sandra) of Summerside, John (Joanne) of Cambridge, N.S., Donna of Slemon Park, Kendell of Grand River and Danielle of Slemon Park. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Christopher, Nicholas, Peter, Melanie, Jenna, Sara, Jennifer, Joshua and Ashley. Survived by her brothers, Wendall Walsh of Vancouver, B.C., and Jack (Patricia) Walsh of Moncton, N.B., and her sister, Arlene (Phillip) Woodford of Summerside. Shirley was predeceased by her father, David Walsh, and also her husband and dear friend, Peter DesRoche. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside. Following cremation, visiting hours will be held on Tuesday evening only, 7-9 p.m. There will be no memorial service held, however interment and a committal service will take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Summerside, at a later date.
