Age 75 years. Passed peacefully away in her sleep, April 12, 2013. Predeceased by her husband Bill Porter, brothers Ken, Eric, Cray and Lloyd (Dorcas) Dawe, sister Rita Taylor (Jim). Leaving to mourn daughter Lillian Baker, son Harvey Porter (Christine), cherished friend Mary Smith (who was more like a daughter than a friend), caregiver Renee Meaney, 4 precious grandchildren Robyn (Hussain), Bobby, Lucas and Jack, 3 honorary grandchildren Jessica and Nicholas Rose, and Joey Abbott, adoring brother Gerald Dawe (Bea), life-long friend and cousin Olga Barnes, wonderful friends, Ches and Loretta Rose. Also many caring nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law Gen Dawe, Abby Dawe and Eileen Dawe, brother-in-law Wilson Porter (Alice). Mom was a fabulous Grade One Teacher for many years at Topsail Elementary and a child care provider before retirement. She loved children, gardening, sewing, knitting and could do just about anything. She caught more trout with a $5.00 bamboo pole than Dad did with a $100.00 pole and reel. Mom, you will be missed by so many. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Monday and Tuesday form 2–4 p.m. and 7–9 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 in St. John the Evangelist Church, Topsail at 10 a.m. Interment in the Anglican Cemetery, Dunn’s Hill Road, Foxtrap.
