Juliette Bonsignour

Born: November 29th, 1934

Passed on: February 24th, 2013

Bonnie (with a hair bun) as she was known, passed away peacefully at the age of 78.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, niece & nephew in France.
Bonnie was born in the south of France, and grew up in Paris. She did nursing training in England and midwifery in Scotland. She began a long career starting in England, Switzerland & France; then to New Zealand & Australia where Bonnie was featured in the National Geographic magazine, while working on a vaccination program given to aborigines brought in from desert homes to a reservation. These were some of her best years of which she spoke fondly. She had a jolly good time touring and working, and met lots of people.
After another stint in France, Bonnie arrived in Belleville, ON. Her working stops heading west included Weyburn, SK to Radway, AB and then to BC communities of Powell River, Vancouver, & Vanderhoof before settling in Dawson Creek.
Through the years Bonnie enjoyed quite a few trips to the United States, esp. New York, for conferences, to see friends and take in highlighted shows. Bonnie travelled also to see her family in France and often spoke about those memorable visits.
While Bonnie had many rewarding years providing care to moms & babes, she was very happy in her retirement. Bonnie looked forward to monthly coffee meetings with former co-workers and liked to catch up with everybody’s news. She championed the lives of animals, never hesitating to take in a stray cat or injured bird. Bonnie spent countless hours tending her yard & thoroughly appreciated the bounty of her garden.
She enjoyed afternoon walks around her neighbourhood and made the most of each day.
Bonnie was well respected, a true friend, mentor & wise confidante. In the final months of her illness, Bonnie said life had never been dull, even if she was basically quiet and never bored with her own company. Bonnie’s beloved cats, also her friends, filled her moments. Bonnie will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Bonnie’s ashes were transferred to France and placed to rest among her family.
Arrangements were entrusted to Bergeron Funeral Services & Crematorium Ltd.
