Marion Esther MacDonald of Strathcona Street, Westmount, passed away Monday, April 15, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Trenton, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Bessie (Polly) Trenholm.
Marion was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church, Sydney, and a former member of the Steelworkers and Sydney Pensioners Club.
She was employed with Sobeys, until retirement.
Surviving are her loving grandson, Shawn (Lynn) Rose, Pt. Edward; daughter, Beverly (Martin) O’Connell, Halifax; son, John (Lorraine) MacDonald, Mulgrave; granddaughters, Michelle Rose (Brian) and Michaelette and Frances MacDonald; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Brittany and Alyssa Rose, Kayla and Kelsey Kennedy and Joey Spencer; nieces, Donna Crawley and Irene (Chickie) MacNeil; nephews, Robert Murchison and Earl (Peggy) Murchison; special neighbours, Bernard and Carol Ludyka and Kevin and Laura Myers.
Marion was predeceased by her husband, John and daughter, Frances. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she was predeceased by her sister, Kathleen ‘Kay’ Murchison, brothers, Earl, Roy and Jim. Marion was also predeceased by her loving companion, Clarence Morrison.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday, 11 a.m., with Rev. Kevin Myers officiating. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
