Sarah Teresa “Winnie” MacDonald, 91, of Cambey Ave. Stellarton passed away on Friday April 19, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born in Auld’s Cove she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Ryan) MacDonald.
Winnie was a resident of Stellarton for the past 50 years.
In her early years she worked for MT&T in Mulgrave and then as a switchboard operator at the old Aberdeen Hospital.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church and a former member of the CWL.
Winnie enjoyed knitting, reading and keeping up with current events.
Surviving are a daughter Patricia (Gary) Doucette of Stellarton; sons Stephen MacDonald and Robert MacDonald, both of Stellarton; grandchildren Lisa (Brad) Hurley of New Glasgow and Christopher (Kaitlyn Watters) of Halifax; and great granddaughter Tessa Grace Hurley.
She was predeceased by her husband John Leo MacDonald; brothers: John, James and Cyril; and sisters: Elizabeth Brophy, Bertha Power and Mina Ryan.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel 18 Acadia Ave. Stellarton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Peter MacDonald officiating.
Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
