The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at his late residence on Monday, April 22nd, 2013 of Carlyle “Carl” Arthur Newson of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 74 years. Carl spent over 40 years with the Summerside Police Department until he retired in January, 2000. He was born on May 1, 1938 in Inkerman, P.E.I. to his late parents Arthur and Margaret (nee Matheson) Newson. Beloved husband of Hazel (nee Parkman) Newson and loving father of Carla (Greg) Burgess and Stewart Newson, all of Halifax, N.S. Also lovingly remembered by his four grandchildren: Carly Burgess, Owen, Parker and Tyler Newson. Survived by his brother Deryl (Carol Ann) Newson and his sister Arlene (Gordon) Kent, all of Summerside. Besides his parents, Carl was predeceased by his sister Janet Newson. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Saturday, April 27, then to Trinity United Church, Summerside for a funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment to take place in People’s Cemetery, Summerside. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Carl’s memory to the M.S. Society or East Prince Palliative Home Care would be greatly appreciated.
