Ronald Lamont Fowler
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ronald Lamont Fowler on April 23, 2013 in Truro at the age of 84. Born in Bass River, he was the eldest son of the late Kenneth and Marjorie (Fahey) Fowler. In Dad’s youth, he was very athletic and excelled at sports, especially baseball as a pitcher for many teams in the area including the Londonderry Iron Clads. He so enjoyed reminiscing about all the games and the “exciting plays”. Always a hard worker, he took great pride in his work and you could count on that whatever he was working on was done well, be it his every day job, work around his home, or in his garden growing his “champion tomatoes” of which he held bragging rights. He worked his early years at Dominion Chair Company and later became a drywaller with Kent Homes which he loved. This job took him traveling all around the Maritimes supervising the final work before homes were delivered to their new owners. He was a very reflective person enjoying solitude and quietness. He spent many wonderful hours at his beloved Economy Lake and had many stories to tell about those times, all of which we all enjoyed reliving with him. After his illness, Dad became involved in volunteer work with Disabled Consumers Society of Colchester (DCSC) group and has been a member for almost 30 years serving on the executive and board of directors in some capacity until the last few years due to his progressing ill health. A special nod to his many wonderful workers he had to assist him in his care over the years. He was always so pleased when “his girls” showed up. He will always be cherished as the wonderful father he was, kind, strong compassionate and caring. He is survived by sons, Charles (Mary), Ottawa, Jeff (Iris) Minasville; daughters, Judy (Raymond) Jobe, Onslow, Kimberley (Robert) Sutherland, Truro. Also his grandchildren, great grandchildren and beloved cat, Nicki. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara; son, Kenneth and brother Keith. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 26 at 2:00 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Valerie Kingsbury officiating. Interment in Bible Hill Cemetery. Donations if desired, may be made to Colchester SPCA or a charity of choice. Live webcasting of the service will begin on Friday at 1:58 pm (Atlantic time) and is available along with condolences and donations at www.ColchesterCommunity.com

Don’t think we’re far apart
For every time you think of me
I’ll be right there in your heart.”
