Ella Olson

OLSON, ELLA ELIZABETH - The passing of Ella Elizabeth Olson (Mullin) occurred peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2013, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, NB after a short illness. Born on January 4, 1918, in Saint John, NB, Ella was the daughter of the late Eldon and Eunice Mullin. When Ella was a teenager her family moved to Sherbrook, Quebec, where she completed high school. After graduating from Business College she was employed at the Julius-Kayser textile company as a stenographer. It was in Sherbrooke that she met the love of her life, her husband Carl Leslie Olson, who predeceased her in 1990. Carl's career in the army took them to many locations around the world before they finally retired in Harvey Station, NB in 1970. Ella was an avid basketball player and fan and a well-known supporter of the Harvey High School teams while living in the village. She loved to dance and spent many a Saturday night enjoying the Legion dances with Carl. Ella had many friends that she liked to keep in touch with by telephone, and was famous for her calls. Ella is survived by her loving daughter, Carla Ward (Richard), of Hanwell, NB; two nephews, Eldon and William Mullin; and a niece, Mary Mullin, all of Sherbrooke, Quebec; as well as cousins Luke Kelly (Diane) and Edmund Johnson of Fredericton, NB, and Patricia Dickson of Boston, Massachusetts.
Visitation will take place at Swan Funeral Chapel, 1826 Highway 3, Harvey Station, NB, on Monday, April 29, 2013, from 1 to 2 pm when the funeral service will be held with Rev. Ronald Curtis officiating. A reception will follow. Interment will take place at the Prince William Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Prince William Cemetery Fund or to a charity of the donor's choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.flewellingswan.com
