JORDAN, ISABEL MARY - 1927-2013 - The passing of Isabel Mary Jordan occurred at York Care Centre on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Born in Ludlow, NB, she was the eldest daughter of the late Joseph and Carrie (Pond) Burke and the wife of Millard Jordan. Isabel worked as a switchboard operator for NB Tel before she and Millard were married in 1953. Devoted to raising her family, she was an excellent seamstress, cook and homemaker. She enjoyed family gatherings, BBQs and Sunday picnics, her flowers in the summer and cats. She and Millard together ran Jordan's U-Pick for many years. She belonged to the Bear Island United Church, the Bear Island and Lr Queensbury Women’s Clubs and had many friends. Before her illness, she and Millard enjoyed retirement and the freedom to travel. Survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Millard; daughters, Dale Sproull (Melbourne), Elizabeth DesRoches (Joe) and Heather Jordan (Brian Brewer); son, Robin; grandchildren, Chris DesRoches (Teresa) Edmonton, AB, Trevor DesRoches (Jill McAulay), Boston, Mass., Andrew Sharpe (Christie), Irricana, AB, Michael Sproull, Fredericton and Lisa Sproull, Montreal; brothers, Walter (Lorna), Earl (Ruth) and Tom (Janet); sisters, Helen Calhoun and Betty Morehouse; sister-in-law, Fiola Burke; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Maddie Sharpe and Angelica, Josh and Harmony DesRoches; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Allie and Bill Burke; brothers-in-law, Raymond Calhoun and Olen, Avon and Aubrey Jordan; sisters-in-law, Marie Burke and Glenna and Mary Jordan; niece, Wendy Burke; parents-in-law, Roy and Laura Jordan.
There will be visitation at York Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at York Funeral Home's T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Peter Beckwith officiating. Interment will be in the Bear Island Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or to the Bear Island Cemetery. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
