HACHEY, BERNARD ALBERT - Bernard Hachey, devoted husband of Vivian Hachey (Marks) passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at Bobby's Hospice on April 26, 2013. He was born on January 2, 1936 in Saint John to the late Albert and Edna (DesRoches) Hachey. Bernard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He worked in the medical field for 47 years, retiring as an EMT in 1996. Bernard was an avid reader and a faithful member of Our Lady of the Assumption parish. In addition to his wife he is survived by children, Janice Greenwood (Bill) of Saint John, Michael (Lisa) Hachey of Quispamsis and Dawn Marie Hachey (Billy Thomas) of Saint John; brother, James Hachey (Evelyn) of Saint John; sister, Eveline King of Arizona; grandchildren, Rachel, Nathan, Maxwell, Carly, Natasha and Alysha; five great-grandchildren; several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by daughter, Joanne Hachey; and sister, Theresa Krysko.
Following cremation, visitation will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Tuesday, April 30 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, West Saint John on Wednesday, May 1 at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bernard made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Bobby's Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
