HICKS, NATHAN STEWART and HICKS MARY JANET (BLAIR) - Nathan and Mary (Blair) Hicks, both of Stanley died tragically on Monday, May 13, 2013 in Ontario while traveling West. They had wanted to have a new beginning in Alberta. Nathan, 48 and Mary, 45, were married for 14 years. Seldom apart even in death, they shared a special relationship that many would be envious of. Nathan was the son of the late Ivan and Bertha (Dutcher) Hicks of Fredericton. Mary was the daughter of David Blair (Joanne) of Fredericton and Janet Brewer (Layne) of Zealand. Nathan was a cook by trade and has worked in many Fredericton restaurants and food establishments. Mary worked at various administrative positions, the last being the YMCA Employment Centre, and different offices of the provincial government. They left behind three children, Nathan's son Adrian Francis of Burnt Church, NB and his mother Sheila Francis; Mary's children Natasha and Matthew Whipple of Fredericton and their father Jeff Whipple; their brothers and sisters Russell Hicks, Ivy-Ellen Curtis (Danny), Sarah Gunaseelan (Gunaseelan Kulasegaram) all of Fredericton; Peter Blair (Stacey) of Airdrie, Alberta and Victoria Blair of Halifax; nieces Lindsey Curtis, Shoba Gunaseelan; nephews, Joseph Blair, Devan Gunaseelan; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will take place at Grace Memorial Baptist Church on Monday, May 20 from 6 to 9 pm and Tuesday from 12 noon to 2 pm with the funeral taking place at 2 pm with Pastor Doug Hapeman officiating.
