Passed peacefully away with quiet grace and dignity at the Health Sciences Complex on May 20, 2013 at the age of 77. Originally from Riverhead, Hr. Grace. Predeceased by his parents: John and Mary Callahan and his four brothers: Leo, Pat, Bill and Frank and his sisters: Marie Byrne, Angela Roberts and Veronica Callahan. Among the many he is leaving to mourn his two sisters: Kathleen Coombs, Gertrude Connolly (Riverhead, Hr. Grace) and his brother Jack Callahan (DVA, St. John’s). Also leaving to mourn are his large circle of nieces and nephews and his dearest friends and staff at Helen’s Haven in Kelligrews. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon, 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will take place at St. Edward’s Roman Catholic Church, Kelligrews on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Edward’s Cemetery in Kelligrews.
