John (Jean) Bertin
BERTIN, JOHN (JEAN) HENRI - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of John (Jean) Henri Bertin which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Born 1933, in Bathurst, NB, he was the son of the late Henri and Catherine (Pitre) Bertin. John worked for Brunterm as a heavy duty mechanic for 19 years. He was a Korean front line War Veteran, Royal 22nd Regiment, and a member of Royal Canadian Legion branch #53. John was devoted to his family and thoroughly enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved being outdoors, gardening, and spending time on the lake. John is survived by his loving wife Marie (Geldart) of 59 years; daughter Lillian Lynch (Wally) of St. Martins, NB; brother Wilfred of Bathurst, NB; daughter-in-law Carolyn Bertin; five grandchildren Corey Lynch, Crystal Pasch, Shawn Lynch, Michael Bertin, Alicia Robichaud; nine great grandchildren; 25 nieces and nephews, many friends and good neighbors. Beside his parents, John was predeceased by his son Roy, six brothers and two sisters.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Friday, May 24th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Tribute to a Veteran service will begin at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (4347 Loch Lomond Road) on Saturday, May 25th at 11 a.m. Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
