Dawn Ruth Cleveland, 57, of Windsor, Hants County, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 peacefully in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor with her family by her side after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 1, 1956 in Windsor. She was the daughter of the late Charles Graham and Beulah Thelma (Purvis) Kelley. Dawn worked in the early seventies at the Nova Scotia Textile Mill. After marrying her husband, Butch she was a stay at home mom. Later Dawn went on to be a self-employed custodian. She owned and operated a Lawn Mowing Company for many years. Dawn was a member of the Windport Dance Club and enjoyed ballroom dancing. She enjoyed country music, camping, gardening, flowers, watching the Nascar races on tv, spending time with her family and her cherished grandchildren, she especially enjoyed the family gatherings and her turkey dressing was a big hit with everyone. Surviving are her husband of thirty-five years, Butch Cleveland; daughters, Jennifer (Shawn) Dorey, Greenhill; Amanda Cleveland, Windsor; sons, Darcy (Theresa) Cleveland, Ardoise; Kenny Cleveland (Lacey Mahar), Windsor; grandchildren, Megan and Dylan Dorey, Austin, Ty, and Dawson Cleveland, Nicolas Cleveland; her dog, Misty; sisters, Marilyn Brown, Three Mile Plains; Judy (Ernie) Whitsitt, Three Mile Plains; Nita Hines, Bricton; Karen Kelley, Auburn; brothers, Roy (Betty) Kelley, Windsor; David (Angel) Kelley, Newport Station; Barry (Valerie) Kelley, Brooklyn; Wayne (Willis) Kelley, Auburn; Darrell (Novella) Kelley, Dartmouth; Terry (Susan) Kelley, Windsor; Steven (Wendy) Neil, Halifax; brothers-in-law, Jerry Cleveland, Windsor; John (Susan) Cleveland, Falmouth; Wayne (Debbie) Cleveland, Windsor; sisters-in-law, Marlene (Bill) Hines, Newport Station; Cindy (Bob) Hines, Windsor; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Predeceased by her parents, Charles and Beulah Kelley; brothers, Norris Frank Kelley, John Kelley, Michael Kelley and Charles Kelley; nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Visitation was 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Friday, May 24, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Garnet Parker officiated, followed by a reception at the Lindsay Family Reception Centre, 184 King Street. Cremation followed, with interment to be held at a later date. Donations in Dawn’s memory were requested to be made to St. Thomas Anglican Church “Furnace Fund”; S.P.C.A. Hants County Branch; The V.O.N.; or to a charity of your choice. Dawn’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Stephanie Snow, nurse Lynn, Dr. Cathryn Smith and all the doctors and nurses at the Q.E.II V.G. Site Chemo Ward, along with Dr. Tim Matheson and the nurses at the Hants Community Hospital Palliative Care Unit and Ambulatory Care.
