Michael Sr. Hewitt

It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Hewitt Sr. of Trepassey, announce his death which occurred on Friday, May 31, 2013, at St. Clare’s Hospital. Born on October 14th, 1930 in Trepassey, NL, he was the son of the late Joseph Hewitt and Agnes (Sutton). Michael made many lifelong friendships during his time spent employed as a chef at St. Clare’s. He liked to spend time in the woods fishing and picking berries. Somehow he always knew where there were berries and where the best places were to catch fish. Michael loved his farm animals and always had fresh eggs for sale. He was always up for a game of cards with his family. Michael will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Leaving to mourn with loving memories, his children Edward (Sadie), Billy, Michael Jr. (Debbie), Noel (Gloria), all of Trepassey, Tony (Joy), Jeanette Hewitt (Martin), Colleen Seydell (John), all of St. John’s, Marcheta Costello of Quispamsis and his sister Marie (Frank), of St. John’s. Also his step-daughter Barbara Vokey (Stan) of Trinity, daughter-in-law Rhonda Hewitt of Eastport; sister-in-law Doris Hunt (Carl) of Corner Brook and brother-in-law Ron Dewling (Dot) of Paradise. Also leaving to mourn many grandchildren; great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his wife Mary, son Kenneth, daughter Shirley and granddaughter Dana. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his homecare workers: Shirley Dean, Gloria Hewitt, Edwina Dobbin, ambulance drivers, and the staff of the dialysis unit at St. Clare’s who showed great kindness and care to their dad. Resting at Fahey’s Funeral Home, Trepassey (709) 438-2159, with visitation on Saturday, June 1, 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, June 2, from 10:30-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and Monday, June 3, 10-12. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Trepassey on Monday, June 3, at 1 p.m. Interment will take place at Holy Redeemer Cemetery immediately following the service. The family would like to invite you back to the church hall for a small reception following the interment.
