SIEMENS- Evelyn Siemens, age 85 of Swift Current passed away May 28, 2013 at the Cypress Lodge in Maple Creek, Sk. The Funeral Service was at 11:00 am Saturday, June 1, 2013 from Mount Calvary Lutheran Church with Pastor Brad Julien officiating. The organist was Barb Mirua. A solo and life tribute was given by Lenore Wentland. The Pallbearers were Brent Siemens, Wayne Siemens, Zachary Friesen, Len McGean, Gerald Martin and George Meyer. The interment service was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Evelyn was survived by her daughter Valerie Wightman, granddaughter Nadine (Len) McGean and their child Caity McGean, Sabrina (Bryan) Bradshaw and their son Keith; her son Ralph (Karen) Siemens; grandson Brent (Brandi) Siemens and their children Brooklyn and McKenna; grandson Wayne (Marcia) Siemens and their children Brandon and Haley; grandson Zachary (Levi) Friesen and their children Houston and Harper, granddaughters Kenda Friesen and Randalyn Fisher; her brother Harvey Meyer of B.C., sisters Emma Komarniski of AB and Elsie Mahoney of Ont. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John Siemens in 2005; son-in-law Darryl Wightman in 2009; brothers Clarence Meyer, George Meyer, Willard Meyer and Fred Meyer, also some half brothers and sisters. Evelyn was born on March 7, 1928 in Rush Lake. She attended school at Turnhill School. Evelyn was united in marriage to John Siemens in 1944 at Prairieview Lutheran Church. They farmed together for many years and Evelyn also cooked at different restaurants and did home baking for others to keep herself busy. She especially enjoyed cooking special German foods for her family and friend and always had a huge garden with many flowers and the greenest grass ever. Evelyn crocheted many afghans for everyone and also did much sewing. She enjoyed her church activities and playing Ludo and she had a very special place in her heart for cats as her favorite pets. Evelyn was a gentle soul all her life. She had a special place in the hearts of all at the nursing home and will be sadly missed. In her memory, memorial donation may be made to the Saskatchewan Parkinson's Disease Foundation. Warren's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
