
Louis Durling
DURLING, LOUIS ALTON - At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, on Sunday, June 2, 2013, surrounded by his family, Louis A. Durling of Fredericton, NB went home to be with his Lord and Saviour. Born in Canterbury, NB on December 11, 1939, he was the son of the late Barry and Alma (Johnson) Durling. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Lois (Bates)Durling; his sons, Tim (Jackie) and Tony (Pattie); a daughter, Louanne; grandsons, Barry (Christine), Scott (Jill), AJ and Weston; great granddaughter, Jane; his sister, Bonnie (Charlie) Meade; nieces, Melanie and Leah; several aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two baby brothers, Olin and Clifford; his in-laws, Sam and Bertha (MacFarlane) Bates; several aunts and uncles. Louis graduated from Canterbury High School, then moved to Fredericton where he worked and later retired from the Hartt Shoe Factory as business manager after 37 years. He was an entrepreneur at heart and owned and operated several small businesses in the Fredericton area, lastly operating with his daughter, A Plus Drivers Education. Louis was a generous and kind man, who impacted many lives. He loved to travel in his motorhome and enjoyed many years on the road with his wife and beloved dog ‘Skooter’.
Visitation will be held at Flewelling Funeral Home, 585 Otis Drive, Nackawic, NB on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Joe Beesley officiating. Private interment at Temperance Vale Cemetery. Our Dad was a radiant Christian and loving example to his family, church and community. "Well done, good and faithful servant" is how we will remember him. He was a member of Sunset Church. Dad’s moto was: Jesus first, others next, yourself last. The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support from so many.
