WALSH, WILLIAM - The death of William "Bill" Walsh occurred at Bobby’s Hospice on Monday, June 3, 2013. Born in Saint John on April 20, 1920 he was the son of the late Thomas and Ann (Nugent) Walsh. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his son James on November 13, 2012; his sisters Margaret RN, Gertrude Butler and Geraldine Swart. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joan (McGrath) Walsh, his son Paul of Saint John and his daughter Mary Jane Walsh-Aubrecht (John) of Dartmouth, NS; his sister Olive Cogger (Frank) and grandchildren Michelle Denton (Herman) of Saint John, Christopher Walsh (Suzy) of Brooklyn, NY, John Vianney Aubrecht and Olivia Aubrecht both of Dartmouth, NS; and many loving nieces and nephews who found “Uncle Bill” very special. Bill was a Commercial Traveller starting his career with The James Robertson Co. Ltd. (Plumbing & Heating) and travelled in N.S, Cape Breton, PEI and in NB. He joined the United Commercial Travellers in August 1950 and was a very active member in his younger years. He was involved in baseball and hockey for the young people. Bill loved his sports and enjoyed many golf games, ball games and skating in his younger years. He enjoyed his summers at Sandy Point. Bill was an active member of Stella Maris Church and was involved with many committees before his health declined. Joan, Mary Jane and Paul would like to take this opportunity to thank our relatives, neighbours and the Extra Mural Nurses, Liana Long RN and her team and Judy Bursey RN VON for their care they gave to Bill. Last but not least Faye Toner and Sue McCambridge for the care they gave to Bill and to me.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitations on Wednesday, June 5th from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church on Thursday, June 6th at 12:05 p.m. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances in memory of Bill made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Bobby’s Hospice, CNIB or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
