VAUTOUR, GILBERT D. - Gilbert D. "Gibby" Vautour, loving husband of Joan (Earle) Vautour, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Port Elgin, NB, he was the son of the late Dosithe and Alice (Legere) Vautour. Gilbert was a shipping supervisor with Moosehead Breweries for 40+ years retiring in 1989. Gibby's sons remember how he loved to work. There wasn't an evening where he would come home without a smile on his face. He and Joan were "campers" for over 60 years and loved spending time in St. Andrews at the trailer. Later in his life, Gibby found a hidden passion in his convertible and some would say that the trips to and from the trailer were made in record time. In addition to his wife, Gilbert is survived by his sons, Mark (Theresa), Stephen (Wendy), Christopher (Deborah), all of Saint John and Gilbert (Lisa Jones) of Fredericton; brother, John (Dorothy) Vautour of Saint John; sister-in-law, Betty Vautour of Fredericton; grandchildren, Tiffany, Jerrad, Ashley, Michael, Mary, Jacob and Sydney; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie and Jaxon; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Gilbert was predeceased by his brothers, Allison, Samuel and Billy; and his sisters, Claire Vautour, Armiline Reid and Doreen Martin.
Arrangements under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visiting Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2013 from St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 541 Milford Road at 11:00 am with committal in Holy Cross Cemetery.
