Francis James "Unk" Hughes

The death occurred at his late residence on Tuesday, July 29, 2008, of Mr. Francis James “Unk” Hughes of Wedgewood Avenue, Charlottetown, veteran of the Second World War, age 83 years. Special friend of Bella Cook. Father of Maurice “Moe” (Ann) of East Royalty, Heather (Frank) Robison, of Charlottetown, Frank (Theresa) of Elmwood, Joanie (Moe) Acorn of Charlottetown, Barb (Bernie) Dowling of East Royalty and Mike Hughes of Charlottetown. He will also be lovingly remembered by 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, sisters Doris MacCallum and Ruth (Maurice) DeCoste, and brother Reggie (Marg) Hughes, as well as extended family, Doug (Shirley) Cook, Dale (Terri) Cook, Danny (Lorna) Cook, Debbie (David) Myers, Darlene (Kenny) Myers, Darla Jenkins and Shane Lafferty. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan, grandson Joey Robison, great-grandson Austin, sister Mary McTague, brothers Maurice and Richard. Resting at the Hennessey Funeral Home until 9:45 Friday morning, then transferred to St. Dunstan’s Basilica for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment to follow in The Roman Catholic Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Society – Maritime Region or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of P.E.I.
