It is with sadness and heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jeanette Chiasson formerly of Reserve Mines and a resident of Seaview Manor, Glace Bay.
Jeanette passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013, at the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Cheticamp, N.S., Jeanette was the daughter of the late George and Josephine (Chiasson) LeBrun.
Jeanette was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines. She and her husband, Victor were foster parents for numerous children over the years. She enjoyed playing cards and loved to dance. Jeanette loved to spend time with family and friends. Her grandchildren meant the world to her.
She will be sadly missed by her sons, Mike (Charlaine), Reserve Mines, Dan (Maureen), Ontario, Joseph Babineau, Sydney; daughter, Helen (Vince) LeBlanc, Glace Bay; cherished grandchildren, Darren (Denise), Shauna (Lloyd), Laura (Mitch), Danny (Laura), Glen (Sonya), Ian (Jennie), Shane (Ledawn), Tanya, Tara, John Paul, Shaun; great-grandchildren, Julia, Jansen, Courtney, Aiden, Taylor, Carson, Payton, Nicole, Brandon, Ethan, Kianna, Liam, Brandon.
Jeanette was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Besides her parents, Jeanette was predeceased by her husband, Victor, daughter, Yvonne Caume, sisters, Josephine, Effie, Christie Ann, Eveline, Adelle, brothers, Willie, Ernest, Jimmie, Simon and daughter-in-law, Shirley Chiasson.
Visitation for Jeanette will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 20, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
Donations in Jeanette’s memory may be made to the An Cala Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
