Linda L. McKinnon, of Port Williams. Linda passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the age of 53. Born on November 3, 1959 in Wolfville, Kings County, she was a daughter of the late Bruce and Olive (Murphy) McKinnon. She was an member of the Port Williams United Baptist Church, where she was active with the Loyal Workers, the W.M.A., the Social Committee, the Choir, the Monday Morning Coffee Break, recording Sunday services for shut-ins. She was also involved with the Women’s Institute, the Hospital Auxiliary, the Port Williams Lioness Club and was on the Kitchen Committee for the Community Centre. In her earlier years, she was a member of Brownies, Girl Guides, C.G.I.T and the Young Peoples Group. She enjoyed crafts, especially cross-stitch and knitting. Linda also loved her dog, Ladago, her constant companion. She will be sadly missed by all. She is survived by a brother, Robert; five sisters, Judy (John) Sawler, Susan MacIntosh, Nancy Morine, Jocelyn (Colin) MacKenzie and Patti (Alastair) McLean; a brother-in-law, Garth Steele; six nephews, seven nieces, four great nieces and two great nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Joan (McKinnon) Steele. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. There was no visitation, by family request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013 in the Port Williams United Baptist Church, Reverend David Ogilvie officiating. A private family interment took place in the Canard Corner Cemetery (Jaw Bone Corner). Donations in memory may be made to the Port Williams United Baptist Church or the Wolfville Food Bank.
