It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ronald Matthew Moores of Bell Island announce his passing on June 20th, 2013 at the Health Science Complex, at the age of 89 years. Matt was born in Blackhead, Conception Bay to George Freeman and Lucy Moores. He moved to Bell Island in 1951 and spent many years as a businessman on Bell Island. After his retirement he and his wife Violet spent many happy hours travelling in their motor home and fishing and hunting around the province. Predeceased by wife Violet (2001), parents, George Freeman (1964) and Lucy Moores (1976). He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his daughter Doris, Stephenville; son Ronald (Judy Sheppard), Bell Island; sisters: Doris (Leonard Clarke), Bell Island and Joyce (Roy Slade), Stouffville, Ont.; six cherished grandchildren: Allan and Mark Hussey, Stefanie, Sarah, Susan and George Moores and one great-grandchild Issac Moores; many nieces, nephews, relatives and close and dear friends. Resting at Pendergast's Funeral Home, Bell Island. Flowers graciously accepted or donations in Matt's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association. Visitation on Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service Monday, June 24 at 2 p.m. from the Bell Island United Church with interment to follow at the United Church Cemetery.
