It is with deep sadness, we regret to announce the passing of our loving mother, Kay Devison of Glace Bay on Thursday, June 20th, 2013 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born on November 5th, 1940 in Bridgeport, Kay was the daughter of the late Howard and Mary (Currie) MacDonald.
Kay was a former member of St. Leo's Church, Table Head. She started her working career at the Joy Market, Glace Bay and later retired from Modern Cleaners at the former University College of Cape Breton.
Kay was a very social lady and loved playing bingo. She will always be remembered as a very loving, compassionate woman who was always there for her family or a friend in need
Kay is survived by her son, Kevin; daughter, Wanda (John Turnbull); only grandson, Ryan who was the light of her life; a sister, Eileen (Clifford) McNeill, Sydney; three brothers, Michael (Margie) MacDonald, Elmer MacDonald, Robert MacDonald, all of Glace Bay; sister in law, Linda Farrell; brother in law, Dan (Gen) Devison; cousin, Barbara (Junior Morrison) who was just like a sister to Kay; special friends, Mae, Diane, Jenny and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Kay was predeceased by her husband, Frankie Devison; three brothers, Murdock, John, Kevin; a sister, Josephine and a twin brother, Joseph in infancy.
Visitation for Kay will be held on Sunday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Leo Boone is Monday at 11 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport followed by a reception in the church hall. Cremation to follow with interment at St. Anne's Cemetery at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy for Kay, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Palliative Care, Cancer Association or a charity of one's choice.
