Lt. Col. Richard L. "Dick" Doyle, CD, BSc, BEd

The death occurred suddenly at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Thursday, June 20, 2013 of Lt. Col. Richard L. "Dick" Doyle, CD. of Charlottetown, age 84 years.
Beloved husband of 58 years to Doris (nee Costello) Doyle. Dear father of Pat (Paula), Kathee (Howard) Regan, Karen (Jim) Martell, Shane (Carol), Philip, Sherran (Peter) Henderson, and Athena. He will also be lovingly remembered by grandchildren, Natalie, Thomas, Rebecca, Jason, Kasha, Melinda (Ross Reid), Michael (Amanda MacKinnon), Kenneth (Heather), Natasha (Cory) Thompson, Stephanie, Michaela and Mackenzie; great-grandchildren, Evan, Charlotte, Matthew and Joshua; sister, Babe Klea; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by son, Michael; parents, Philip and Ethel (MacLean) Doyle; brother and sisters, Mildred MacLaine, Jack Doyle, Ledwell Doyle, Thelma Doyle and Elaine Fraser.
Dick graduated from St. Dunstan’s University with BSc and UPEI with BEd. Dick worked in Halifax at the Dept. of Fisheries. He taught high school in Charlottetown and Brantford, Ont., and adult education at Holland College. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish Council, taught religious education and was one of the first eucharistic ministers of Holy Redeemer.
Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home until Monday morning then transferred to the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer for funeral mass at 10 a.m. Interment in the family plot in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Charlottetown.
Visiting hours at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
If so desired, memorial contributions in Dick’s memory may be made to the P.E.I. Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Branch #1 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Veteran’s Tribute Service at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 6:45 p.m.
