John 'Greg' Currie

It is with broken hearts, we announce Greg’s passing at home on June 22, 2013.
He was predeceased by his parents, John Allen and Mae (Flynn) Currie as well as his sister, Mary (Babe), an infant son, and his father-in law, Bill Kennedy.
Greg is survived by Marilyn, his loving wife of 48 years as well as his son Ken (Mary) and their children Mark and Courtney; his daughter Melinda (Wayne) and their son Alex; and his son Kyle (Lynne) and their children Allen and Christopher. Also surviving are his brother Sandy (Kaye), sister Sheila (Gary) MacPhee, his mother-in-law Frances Kennedy, brothers-in-law Martin and Billy Kennedy, and many nieces and nephews.
Greg was a laboratory technologist. Having worked for 35 years at both St. Joseph’s Hospital and the Glace Bay General, he retired in 1997. Greg enjoyed music, gardening and carpentry but his true passion was his family.
Visitation will be at Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay on Tuesday, June 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral mass will take place at St. Anne’s Church on Wednesday, June 26 at 11 a.m. The Rev Leo Boone will be officiating. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
