DeVILLER, Francis Sylvain – 94, Veteran’s Place, Yarmouth, formerly of Little River Harbour, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 20, 2013 in Veteran’s Place. Born September 4, 1918 in Comeau’s Hill, he was a son of the late Jean Laurent and Eva (Smith) DeViller, but was raised by Avite and Arthenise Fitzgerald. Francis worked as a barber in Yarmouth for most of his working life, having also worked as a taxi driver in Halifax for some time. In his spare time, Francis enjoyed doing some carpentry work. He was a veteran of the second World War, and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch No. 155, Wedgeport. He is survived by daughters, Cathy (Victor) Comeau and Helen Jacquard, both of Dayton, as well as by a brother, Reggie DeViller, Veteran’s Place, Yarmouth. He was predeceased by his wife, Isabelle Mary (Jacquard) DeViller, as well as by a daughter, Janet DeViller; brothers, Anthony “Tony” DeViller, Joseph DeViller, Joseph Jacquard, and a sister, Doris Clairmont. Visitation took place from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Friday with a Royal Canadian Legion Service at 7:30, followed by prayers at 8 p.m., both at H. M. Huskilson Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 22 at Saint Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Comeau’s Hill, Father John MacPherson officiated. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. It was requested that there be family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Saint Gabriel’s Parish Cemetery.
