Neil Johnston MacPhee, age 69, of Reserve Mines, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013, at the palliative care unit, Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with his family by his side.
Born in Reserve Mines, Neil was the son of the late Michael and Rhoda MacPhee (McNeil) Cameron.
Neil was a carpenter by trade and lifetime member of the International Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, Local 18, Hamilton, Ont. He spent his retirement years restoring his antique car and fixing bikes for his grandchildren.
Neil is survived by his wife, Marion (Borgal) (MacLeod) MacPhee; daughters, Rhonda (Derrick), Cathy (John), Lesley (Michael); son, Floyd (Marlane); stepchildren, Debbie (John), Kenny (Helen), Karen (Willie), Wayne (Brenda), Donna (Greg); sisters, Ann (Claude), Nita McIntyre; brothers, Jerry (Donna) and Cecil (Valerie). He was a very proud poppy to his grandchildren, Brandon, Christopher, Jeannie, Cora, Emma, Jana, Jessica, Alicia, Kenneth, Jamie, Nicole, Jeremy, Brandon, Samantha, Nicholas and great-granddaughter, Tara.
Neil was also survived by his uncle, Ronnie McNeil, Oakville, Ont.; and his aunt, Sis McLellan, Big Pond; a special brother-in-law, Allan Borgal; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Jean Clark and stepdaughter, Brenda Boutilier.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, Glace Bay. Interment and graveside prayers were held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Reserve Mines on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, with Fr. Leo Boone officiating.
