Beulah Lavinia Doane - 85, of Kentville, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Bear River East, she was a daughter of the late Stewart and Blanche (Robins) Buckler. She received her High School education at Bear River Academy. She moved to Kentville at an early age and worked at the former Cornwallis Inn for a short time, where she met her husband, George, and where they spent the remainder of their lives. She was a member of the Kentville United Baptist Church and in her former years, was active in church work, including the Dorcas Society and later, the Ladies Auxiliary. In the past, she was a willing community volunteer serving as a canvasser for charities, as a blood donor worker, with Meals-on-Wheels and a member of the Kentville Lionettes. She was also involved with Home and School and Girl Guides. She enjoyed travelling and especially treasured her many visits to Bermuda. Her primary focus was her home and family. She loved her home and took great pleasure in cooking, flower arranging, home decorating, gardening and family gatherings at the cottage. She was a lover of the outdoors and nature. Beulah also enjoyed corresponding with far-flung relatives and friends and had the ability to recall birthdays and anniversaries. She is survived by her loving daughters, Lynn and Marlene; a son, Kevin; a sister, Anne Frost; a grandchild; many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, George Leslie Doane; a son, Brian Stewart Doane; a brother, Albert Buckler. There was no visitation, by request. The funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, Reverend Doctor John McNally officiating. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Red Cross Society or The Apple Tree Foundation.
