GODFREY, JOAN ELSIE - With heavy hearts, the family of Joan E. Godfrey, wife of the late Archibald M. Godfrey, announces her passing, on July 1st, 2013, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB., she was the daughter of the late Stewart and Gertrude (Allen) Trentowsky. Joan worked briefly at Red Rose Tea early in her career before spending several years in the dietary department at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was a faithful member of Edith Avenue Baptist Church and attended regularly until her health declined. Family was so important to Joan. She loved spending time with them and just being together. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Joan was a fun loving lady with a wonderful sense of humor. She was a good friend to all and will be dearly missed. Joan is survived by her only daughter Susan (Thane) Robson; sons Billy (Donna) Godfrey, Archie (Carol) Godfrey; daughter-in-law Elizabeth Godfrey; brother Stewart (Patricia) Trentowsky; sister Mary Ann Plume; sister-in-law Charlotte Trentowsky; grandchildren Jason, Darick, Melissa, Scott, Grant, Billy, Doug, Jeff and Shirley; great grandchildren Gavin, Austin, Samarah, Jake, Nicholas, Elizabeth, Michaela, Cody, Riley, Ashlin, Brian and Wendy. In addition to her husband and parents, Joan was also predeceased by her son Andy Godfrey, brother George Trentowsky, sister Margaret Trentowsky and grandson John Godfrey.
Arrangements under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd, Saint John, NB. (506) 646-2424 with visitation Wednesday form 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 4th, 2013 at 10am from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Fernhill Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial at the funeral home.
