It is with great sadness that the family of Ron Andrews announces his passing on June 25, 2013. He will be sadly missed by his sister JoAnn Lindquist, nephew Carmon Lindquist and family Ceanna, Kelsey,Tess, and Lais; niece Terry Lindquist (Peter Strohmann) and daughter Taylor; niece Tracy Sterling (James) and family Zach, Talayna, Cassi, and Zoe. He was predeceased by his father Mike Andrews, mother Ann Andrews and brother Robert Andrews. Ron grew up in Moose Jaw and Central Butte, then served with the armed forces for 22 years from 1967 to 1989. He did his basic training in Gimli, Man. and was stationed in Comox, BC, Chatham, NB, Moose Jaw, SK. He was Peacekeeping for 4 years in Lahr Germany, then was in Cypress and the Middle East. Ron returned home to Moose Jaw to help care for his mother and retired shortly after. He was very involved with the Caron Legion. He later moved to Vernon BC where he was close to his sister JoAnn. Ron always had a huge soft spot for children and dogs. His “Andy” was his companion for many years. He always had a pocket full of treats for the dogs and loved to spoil the children. Ron loved his country and was always striving to make a difference for everyone often writing letters to various politicians. He played a lot of hockey over the years and was an avid hockey fan. He was a regular fan of the Moose Jaw Warriors and later, a Vernon Vipers fan. Ron had a passion for making his community a better place. He will be missed by all who knew him. A celebration of Ron’s life will be held at W.J.Jones & Son Chapel on Monday July 8, 2013 at 11:00am. Della Ferguson will officiate. In lieu of flowers, Ron’s family request, for those so wishing, donations be made to the Humane Society, Box 1658, Moose Jaw, SK, S6H 7K7, or to Variety - The Children's Charity, 4300 Still Creek Drive, Burnaby, BC, V5C 6C6.
