ONTARIO/TRENTON – Edna L. Barclay, passed away on Friday, July 5, 2013 at Leisure World Care Centre, Creemore, at the age of 93.
Edna Barclay of Wasaga Beach, Ontario, formerly of Trenton, Nova Scotia, was the youngest daughter of Rufus and Margaret West of Aylesford, NS.
She was predeceased by her husband Alex, daughter Beverly Smith of Calgary, brothers: George and Ralph West and sisters: Norma Schofield and Margaret Ells.
She is survived by sister Wilma (Billie) Marshall; daughter, Sandra (Raymond) Swan of Wasaga Beach; three grandchildren: Michael Ranger of Calgary, AB; Sherri Kauer of Barrie, ON; and Kim Renaud of Dartmouth, NS; and four great-grandchildren: Cassandra and Kira Kauer; Jessica and Steven Renaud. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews in Nova Scotia and Ontario.
A member of the First United Church, Trenton, NS for 50 years and a member of Wasaga Beach United Church since 2003. Past member of Seniors Clubs in Trenton and New Glasgow and a member of Prime Time Club and 412 Club in Wasaga Beach. Edna spent many years volunteering for the United Church, the Canadian Red Cross and the Pictou County Conservative Party. She loved to play cards, perform skits and plays and play in the Seniors’ Band. Always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed and happiest when she could share her love of fun. Her 93 years of life have been filled with many memorable times with family and great friends.
Visitation and memorial service will be held at Carruthers and Davidson Funeral Home – Wasaga Beach Chapel, on Friday, July 12, 2013.
Donations in Edna’s memory to the Building Fund of the Wasaga Beach United Church would be appreciated by her family. Interment at Wasaga Beach Cemetery at a later date.
