Word has been received of the passing of Mary on August 11, 2008, in Santa Barbara, California, after a brave battle with cancer. Mary grew up in Cardigan and moved to the United States as a young woman. She married an American military man and spent most of her adult life in the U.S.A. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles; her son, Mark; her parents, Cornelius and Christina Gallant; her siblings, Eligious, Anna, Marion, Connie, Earl, Beatrice and John. She is survived by two sisters, Margaret (Peg) Finnegan, Boston, Mass., and Sister Bernadette Gallant, CND, North Rustico. Also left to mourn are her children, Charles Jr., Robert, Laura, Paul and their spouses and children and three great-grandchildren, as well as many nephews and nieces. While the final funeral arrangements have not yet been finalized, Mary will be laid to rest beside her husband in Lompoc, California. May she rest in peace.
