SOCK, LEVI JOSEPH - (1943 - 2013) - ELSIPOGTOG, NB - Levi Sock, 70, of Elsipogtog passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Regional Hospital, Moncton on Saturday, July 13, 2013. Born in Big Cove, he was the son of the late Larry and late Susan (Levi) Sock. For the past 30 years, Levi was employed as Superintendent of Education for Elsipogtog First Nation. He was an active member of the Anglo-phone North District Education Committee; Mawiw 3 Nation Education; UNB Board of Directors Mikmaq/Maliseet Institute; Assembly of First Nations Education. Levi volunteered his time within his community and was very involved in the overall development and wellbeing of the community. He attended Ste. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Elsipogtog. Levi will be sadly missed by his wife Dolores (Simon) Sock, three daughters; Shawnda Sock (Mike Beers), Cathy Sock (Travis Murphy), Nicole Sock (Nathan Jadis), one son; Troy Sock, nine grandchildren; Nadine, Julia Rose, Hannah, Hayley, Hilary, Leah, Tyson, Kirk, Tate and one great granddaughter; Kaitlyn. Levi was also survived by four sisters; Margaret Levy (Freddie), Madeline Ward, Anita Joseph (Peter), LeeAnn Sock (Mark Augustine), nine brothers; Howard (Lulu), Stanley (late Shirley), Jacob (Geraldine), Harry (Eva), Alfred (Linda), Gerald (Pauline), Leon (Carol), Harold (Diane), Charles (Serena) and several nieces and nephews. Levi was predeceased by a grandson; Nicholas, infant sister; Mary and one brother; Frank.
Resting at his home, 25 Hill Street, Elsipogtog with visitation beginning on Tuesday at 3:00 pm until time of funeral. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 2:00 pm, Ste. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Elsipogtog. In lieu of flowers, donations in Levi's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are in care of Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
