William Charles Dawson
Dawson, William Charles 86, Truro, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Upper Stewiacke, he was a son of the late Frederick and Effie (Ward) Dawson. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving in the Infantry. He was a barber in Halifax and also in Truro for many years. After retirement, dad loved to go to yard sales, flea markets and had a great passion for watches and clocks and repairing them.
He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Loughead (Paul Graham) of Truro, Carol Dawson of Quincy, Mass., Denise Ives (Robert) of Valley, Lisa Dawson of Truro; son Gary (Evelyn) of Bible Hill; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; sisters Shirley Mahar and Eileen Harris both of Toronto; brother Don Dawson of Toronto; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sister Kaye Beers; brother Allan Dawson; nephew Richard Dawson.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm., and where the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 26, Truro will conduct a Legion Tribute Service Tuesday at 6 pm, and where funeral service will take place on Wednesday July 24th at 2 pm all in the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Mrs. Jacqueline Ross will officiate with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Robie Street Cemetery, Truro. Donations in memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, the Hospice Society or charity of choice.
