Kenneth White
WHITE, KENNETH ROBERT - Kenneth Robert White of Saint John, devoted husband for 59 years to Velma (Chessie) White, passed away at the Loch Lomond Villa on July 26, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Ken was born in Fredericton, NB in April of 1929; he was the son of the late Robert and Mabel (Hachey) White. He was a member of St. Joachim's Catholic Church, was a Eucharistic minister, was involved in the funeral ministries and parish council, a member of the Knights of Columbus and belonged to the Parkinson's Society. Ken was a barber for over 45 years and worked at Dad & Lads Union Street, retiring in 2000 with his business partner, Roly Hayes. In his early days he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was involved in the "Loyalist City Cloggers" with his wife, Velma. He enjoyed leather work, photography and CB radios. Besides his wife, Velma, Ken is survived by his daughter, Corinne Maxwell of Rothesay; sons, Steven of Saint John, Russell of Edmonton, AB and Timothy of Saint John; seven grandchildren, Jeff, Scott, Danielle, Sarah, Taylor, Garrett and Vanessa; great-granddaughters, Kayleigh, Brooklyn and Jamie; sisters-in-law, Theresa Little of McAdam and Margaret Gulliver of Fredericton; several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Ken was predeceased by many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424), with visitation on Monday, July 29 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Knights of Columbus prayer service will begin at 7:00 pm Monday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 30 at 11:00 am at St. Joachim's Catholic Church, 603 Loch Lomond Road. Private family burial will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's memory can be made to the Parkinson's Society, Loch Lomond Villa Foundation or to the St. Joachim's Building Fund.
