James Shannon
SHANNON, JAMES EDWARD - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of James Edward Shannon which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, July 26, 2013. Born 1928 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Urban and Dora (Griffin) Shannon. Jim was employed with the City of Saint John, Local 18, for many years. He was a member of the Saint John Milling Company. Jim enjoyed going for walks and spending time with his granddaughter, Alison, "Papa's Special Girl". Jim will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Rosemary (Sullivan) of 56 years; daughter, Patricia-Ann (Ron Pitre) of Saint John; son-in-law, Tony Hayward of Rothesay; granddaughter, Alison Hayward of Rothesay; sister, Barb Duffy of Fredericton; sisters-in-law, Mary C. Sullivan and Mary L. Sullivan; cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by daughters, Barbara Ann, Jo Ann and Ann-Marie Hayward; brothers, Joe, Jack, Ben, Roy and Murray; sisters, Mary and Theresa; sisters-in-law, Rita Buckley, Rita Kelly, Marjorie Sullivan and Loretta Shannon.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Monday, July 29 from 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday, July 30 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place from St. Joachim's Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 31 at 11:00 am followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations in memory of Jim may be made to the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Saint John Regional Hospital Dialysis Unit or to a charity of the donor's choice.
