It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Brian Gregory Barrington on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Dick and Winifred Barrington and Arnold ‘Ham’ and Gloria MacEachern.
Brian was a member of Local 56 Sheet Metal Workers and active member of the Ashby Legion, Branch 138.
He was a sheet metal worker for 47 years and was a long time employee of Barrington & Vokey and then Lynk Electric.
Brian had many passions over the years, but his biggest love was spending his summers at the Mira Water Park with his Mira family and never missed men beer bingo.
Brian is survived by his loving spouse, Maureen (Hayes) Boudreau and children, Pat Boudreau (Ashley), Courtney Boudreau (Dave), Tom Hawco (Roxanne) and Paulie; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and his name sake, Brian Gregory LeBlanc. Brian is also survived by his siblings, Bobby Barrington (Thelma), Charlie, Margaret, Kevin MacEachern (Laurie), Lawrence MacEachern (Sheila) and Jean Dalton; sister in-law, Sophie; as well several nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be missed by his furry friend, Gizzmo.
Besides his parents, Brian was predeceased by his first spouse, Mary (Curran) Hawco and siblings, Walter, Earl, Edgar Barrington, Bernard and Jim MacEachern and Trudy Penney.
Visitation for the late Brian Gregory Barrington will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at the Pier Community Funeral Home, Whitney Pier, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street), from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013, at 11 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. A reception following the mass will take place at the Ashby Legion, Branch 138. A private family interment will be held at ‘New’ Calvary Cemetery, Whitney Pier, at a later date.
Donations in memory of Brian may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
